What’s One Experience That Shaped Who I Am Today?

There’s one moment in my life I will never forget.

And honestly… it changed me forever.

There was a time when I was in a relationship that I thought was normal… until it wasn’t.

One day, everything shifted in a way I never expected.

Someone I trusted… someone I was close to… tried to take my life.

But the gun jammed.

Even typing that still feels unreal.

And for a long time, I didn’t even know how to process it.

I didn’t have the words. I didn’t understand why. I just knew one thing…

I was still here.

And the more I’ve grown in my faith, the more I’ve come to understand something deep in my spirit:

That wasn’t luck.

That was God.

God was protecting me.

God was covering me in a moment I didn’t even know how to pray.

God stepped in when I couldn’t.

And that experience… as painful and confusing as it was… shaped me into who I am today.

It made me realize how fragile life really is.

It made me more aware of what I allow into my life.

It made me understand that not everyone who comes into your life is meant to stay.

And most importantly…

It made my relationship with God real.

Not surface-level. Not routine. Real.

Because when you know you should’ve lost your life… but didn’t…

You don’t look at God the same anymore.

You feel Him differently.

You trust Him differently.

You move differently.

I won’t sit here and say healing was easy.

It wasn’t.

There were moments of fear, confusion, and even questioning.

But through it all, one truth stayed the same:

God kept me.

And if He kept me then… He’s still keeping me now.

Maybe your story looks different.

Maybe your experience isn’t the same as mine.

But I truly believe we all have moments that shape us… moments that wake us up… moments that pull us closer to God.

And sometimes, those moments don’t look like blessings at first.

But they are.

Because they reveal something deeper.

Protection. Purpose. Presence.

So if you’re reading this and you’ve been through something that changed you…

I want you to know this:

You’re still here for a reason.

God didn’t miss what happened.

He didn’t overlook you.

He was there.

And He still is.

Even in the moments you don’t understand.

Even in the moments that don’t make sense.

Even in the moments that should’ve broken you…

But didn’t.

That experience didn’t just shape me…

It strengthened me.

It brought me closer to God.

And it reminded me that my life is not in the hands of people…

It’s in His.

And that changes everything 🤍
