Seek First: Finding Peace in the Middle of It All🌿
Verse:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33
Life has a way of pulling us in a thousand directions. Some days feel beautifully full, and others feel overwhelmingly heavy. We juggle responsibilities, prayers we’re still waiting to see answered, dreams we’re building slowly, and quiet moments where we wonder if we’re doing enough — or if we’re even on the right path.
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus gives us one of the most powerful invitations in Scripture:
“Seek first the kingdom of God.”
Not seek when everything settles.
Not seek after the stress fades.
Not seek if we have the time.
But seek first.
This verse isn’t about striving.
It’s not about earning God’s attention or crossing items off a spiritual to-do list.
It’s about trust.
It’s about realignment.
It’s about choosing God as the steady foundation underneath everything else we hold in our hands.
When we place Him first — our peace shifts.
Our priorities settle.
Our hearts breathe again.
Seeking God first looks different for every season of life. For some, it’s a whispered prayer before your feet even touch the floor. For others, it’s opening your Bible during a quiet moment in the afternoon. It might be listening for His voice while washing dishes, journaling your prayers, or pausing in the middle of a busy day just to say, “Lord, I’m here. Lead me.”
Sometimes seeking first means letting go of the pressure to control every outcome, especially when things feel uncertain. God knows the details we can’t see yet. He knows what we need before we ask. And He knows how to lead us toward the very things we’ve been praying for — in His way, in His timing.
When Jesus says, “all these things will be added unto you,” He’s reminding us of something beautifully comforting:
You don’t have to chase everything.
You don’t have to hold the whole world together.
You just have to hold onto Him.
When God is first, peace comes naturally.
When God is first, clarity follows.
When God is first, everything else aligns exactly as it should.
So today, I pray you choose peace over pressure.
Presence over panic.
God’s guidance over your own understanding.
Even if you’re still waiting.
Even if you’re still hoping.
Even if you’re rebuilding your life, your dreams, your future — one quiet step at a time.
He sees it all.
He cares about it all.
And when you seek Him first, you will never walk without direction, protection, or purpose.
Keep seeking Him.
Keep trusting Him.
He is adding to your life in ways you can’t even see yet.
What does seeking God first look like in your life right now?
