Hard Fought Hallelujah

Every Friday, I share a song that's been speaking to my heart, and this week it's Hard Fought Hallelujah by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll.

Some songs are catchy. Some songs are encouraging. And then there are songs that feel like they were written from the middle of my struggle.

This one is that song for me.

Lately, life has felt heavy. There have been days when I've questioned what's next, days when fear has been louder than faith, and days when simply getting through the day felt like a victory.

That's why the phrase "hard fought hallelujah" hits so deeply.

A hallelujah isn't always shouted from a mountaintop. Sometimes it's whispered through tears. Sometimes it's spoken when you're exhausted. Sometimes it's offered when you don't understand what God is doing but choose to trust Him anyway.

I think that's the kind of praise God treasures most.

Not the praise that comes easily when everything is going well, but the praise that rises from a weary heart that still believes He is good.

Psalm 34:18 says:

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

What I love about this song is that it reminds us we don't have to have it all together to come to God. We don't have to clean ourselves up first. We don't have to pretend we're okay.

We can bring Him our doubts, fears, disappointments, and questions.

And somehow, in the middle of all of it, we can still say, "Hallelujah."

Not because life is perfect.

But because God is still faithful.

If you're walking through a difficult season right now, know you're not alone. Maybe your hallelujah feels small today. Maybe it's tired. Maybe it's barely a whisper.

That's okay.

God hears it.

And sometimes the most powerful worship comes from hearts that have been through the battle and still choose to praise.
