What Do I Need to Do to Be Saved

It's one of the most important questions anyone can ask:

"What do I need to do to be saved?"

Maybe you've heard different answers over the years. Be a good person. Go to church. Read your Bible more. Try harder. Clean up your life.

But when a jailer asked this question in the Bible, the answer was surprisingly simple.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved..." — Acts 16:31 (NIV)

Notice what Paul didn't say.

He didn't say, "Get your life together first."

He didn't say, "Fix all your mistakes."

He didn't say, "Become perfect."

He said, believe in Jesus.

The truth is that none of us can earn salvation. We all fall short of God's perfect standard.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23 (NIV)

That's why Jesus came.

He lived the perfect life we could never live and willingly died on the cross for our sins. Three days later, He rose again, defeating sin and death forever.

Salvation is not about what we can do for God.

It's about what Jesus has already done for us.

When we place our faith in Him, repent of our sins, and trust Him as Lord and Savior, we receive the gift of eternal life.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works..." — Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

If you've been wondering whether God could ever save someone like you, the answer is yes.

No past is too messy.

No mistake is too big.

No person is too far gone.

Jesus came for people exactly like us.

What Do I Need to Do to Be Saved

A Simple Prayer

Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again. Today I place my trust in You as my Lord and Savior. Forgive me, change me, and help me follow You. Thank You for Your grace and for the gift of eternal life.

Amen.
