What I've Learned in 38 Years

What I've Learned in 38 Years

As I celebrate another year of life, I've been reflecting on all the things God has taught me. I don't have everything figured out, and I'm still learning every day, but there are a few things I know for sure.

1. God doesn't rush growth.

I've learned that growth takes time. Some seasons are full of change, while others feel quiet, but God is working in both. He is never late, and He doesn't waste a season.

2. Healing isn't always a straight line.

There have been moments when I thought I had moved past something, only to find myself struggling again. I've learned that healing is a journey, and God's grace meets us every step of the way.

3. Comparison steals joy.

God didn't create us to live someone else's story. The more I focus on His plans for me, the more peace I find. What God has for me doesn't require me to compete with anyone else.

4. It's okay to outgrow people and places.

Not everyone is meant to walk with us forever. Some relationships and seasons have an expiration date, and that's okay. God often uses change to lead us where He wants us to be.

5. Waiting seasons are not wasted seasons.

Some of my biggest lessons came while I was waiting. Waiting taught me patience, trust, and dependence on God. Just because something hasn't happened yet doesn't mean God has forgotten.

6. God's faithfulness has carried me through every season.

Looking back, I can see His hand in moments when I couldn't understand what He was doing. Even when I doubted, He remained faithful. Even when I was weak, He was strong.

7. I'm still growing.

At 38, I don't have all the answers. I still make mistakes. I still worry sometimes. I still have days when my faith feels small. But I've learned that God isn't asking me to be perfect—He's asking me to trust Him.

If there's one thing I know for sure, it's this:

God has carried me through every season of my life, and He's not finished with me yet.

No matter where you are today, I pray you remember that His grace is sufficient, His timing is perfect, and His love never fails.
