Genesis Chapter 15
Summary
In Genesis 15, God appears to Abram in a vision and tells him not to be afraid because He is Abram’s shield and exceedingly great reward. Abram expresses his concern that he still has no child to inherit God’s promises. God reassures him that he will have a son of his own and promises that his descendants will be as countless as the stars in the sky.
Abram believes God’s promise, and the Lord credits his faith as righteousness. God then confirms His covenant with Abram by instructing him to prepare a sacrifice. As darkness falls, God reveals that Abram’s descendants will spend many years in a foreign land before being delivered and inheriting the Promised Land. Finally, God alone passes between the sacrificed animals as a smoking firepot and blazing torch, showing that He alone guarantees His covenant and will faithfully fulfill every promise He has made.

Life Application
Genesis 15 reminds us that faith means trusting God even when we cannot see the outcome. Like Abram, we may experience seasons of waiting or wonder if God has forgotten us. This chapter encourages us to keep believing, knowing that God’s timing is perfect and His promises are always true. We can rest in His faithfulness because He never breaks His word.

Encouragement
Waiting is never wasted when God is involved. Even when you can’t see what He is doing, He is faithfully working behind the scenes. Just as God fulfilled His promises to Abram, He will remain faithful to every promise He has spoken over your life. Keep trusting Him, keep praying, and keep walking by faith. God’s timing is always perfect.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that You are my shield and my great reward. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see the answers to my prayers. Strengthen my faith during seasons of waiting and remind me that Your promises never fail. Give me peace instead of fear and confidence instead of doubt. Thank You for always being faithful, even when life feels uncertain. Help me walk by faith each day, knowing that You are working all things together for Your glory and my good.
