Genesis Chapter 3
Chapter Summary
Genesis Chapter 3 begins with the serpent tempting Eve to question God’s Word. After eating the forbidden fruit, Eve gives some to Adam, who also eats. Their eyes are opened, and they immediately become aware of their nakedness and hide from God. God confronts Adam, Eve, and the serpent, and each receives consequences for their actions. Even though sin changes everything, God promises a future Redeemer and lovingly clothes Adam and Eve before sending them out of Eden to prevent them from eating from the tree of life.

Genesis Chapter 3 marks the moment sin entered the world. Adam and Eve were tempted by the serpent, chose to disobey God’s command, and experienced shame, fear, and separation from God. Yet even in the middle of judgment, God showed mercy by promising that one day evil would be defeated and by providing clothing for Adam and Eve before they left the Garden of Eden.

Instead of believing the enemy’s lies, choose to trust God’s Word even when it’s difficult.
