Leviticus 18 God Calls Us to Live Differently

Leviticus 18 God Calls Us to Live Differently

Summary

In Leviticus 18, God gives the Israelites instructions about living a holy life and avoiding sinful behaviors.

He tells them not to follow the practices of Egypt, where they once lived, or Canaan, where they were going.

God establishes boundaries concerning sexual relationships, marriage, family, and moral behavior.

This chapter reminds us that following God means making choices that honor Him, even when the world around us lives differently.

God calls us to live by His Word, not by the world’s standards.

Observations

1. Don’t Follow the Crowd

2. God’s Boundaries Have a Purpose

3. Our Choices Matter to God

Life Application

We live in a world where it’s easy to follow what everyone else is doing.

Sometimes we compromise our values because we want to fit in or avoid being different.

But God calls us to live with purpose.

Here are three ways to apply this chapter:

  • Stand firm in your faith: Don’t let outside influences pull you away from God’s Word.
  • Respect God’s boundaries: Trust that His instructions have a purpose, even when they’re difficult to understand.
  • Make intentional choices: Ask yourself whether your decisions reflect your faith and values.

Remember: You don’t have to follow the crowd to live a meaningful life. Stay faithful to God.

 Questions

  1. Are there areas of my life where I’m following the world instead of God’s Word?
  2. Do I trust God’s boundaries, even when I don’t fully understand them?
  3. What changes can I make to better honor God with my choices?

Memory Verse (NIV)

Leviticus 18:4

“You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.”

Today’s Encouragement

Maybe you’re in a season where God is calling you to make changes.

It might mean walking away from old habits, setting boundaries, or choosing a path that others don’t understand.

Change isn’t always comfortable, but spiritual growth often requires us to leave certain things behind.

You won’t always get everything right, and that’s okay. When you fall short, turn back to God, seek His forgiveness, and keep growing.

Remember: You were called to follow God, not to fit into the world.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me enough to guide my steps and teach me how to live.

Help me recognize the areas of my life that need to change. Give me the strength to resist temptation, respect Your boundaries, and make choices that honor You.

When I feel pressured to follow the world, remind me that my purpose is found in You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
