Exodus 8 — God Shows His Power
Summary
Exodus 8 continues the battle between God’s command and Pharaoh’s stubborn heart.
God sends three more plagues on Egypt: frogs, gnats, and flies. Each plague shows that the Lord has complete authority over creation and that Egypt’s false gods have no power against Him.
Pharaoh repeatedly asks Moses to pray for relief, but once the pressure is removed, he hardens his heart again and refuses to let the Israelites go.
God also begins making a clear distinction between Egypt and His people. During the plague of flies, the land of Goshen, where the Israelites live, is protected.
This chapter reminds us that God is powerful, patient, and completely in control. It also warns us not to seek God only when we want relief from our problems.

Life Application
Exodus 8 challenges us to look at how we respond to God.
Do we only seek Him when we need something?
Do we make promises during difficult moments and forget them once life gets easier?
Pharaoh repeatedly experienced God’s power, yet he continued hardening his heart.
We should never allow repeated exposure to God’s Word to make us spiritually numb.
Instead, when God speaks, corrects, or gets our attention, our response should be surrender.
We can also take comfort in knowing that God sees His people individually.
Even when circumstances around us feel overwhelming, He knows exactly where we are and what we need.

Encouragement
You are never hidden from God.
He knows exactly where you are today.
He sees the situation you are facing, the prayers you have prayed, and the things you may not even know how to put into words.
The same God who knew exactly where His people were in Egypt still knows exactly where His children are today.
Keep trusting Him.
Even when you cannot see what He is doing, He is still present.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that You are powerful, faithful, and completely in control.
Help me not to seek You only when life becomes difficult. I want a relationship with You that continues during the good days and the hard days.
If there is any area of my life where I have been stubborn or resistant to You, soften my heart.
Help me listen when You speak and obey when You lead.
Thank You for seeing me, knowing exactly where I am, and caring about every detail of my life.
Help me trust You even when circumstances around me feel uncertain.
