Summary

Genesis 24 explained records one of the longest chapters in Genesis and highlights God’s faithful guidance. Abraham, now advanced in age, sends his trusted servant back to his homeland to find a wife for Isaac instead of allowing him to marry a Canaanite woman. Abraham is confident that God will direct the journey.

When the servant arrives, he prays for a specific sign: that the woman God has chosen will offer water to both him and his camels. Before he finishes praying, Rebekah appears and does exactly that. The servant immediately recognizes God’s hand at work and worships Him.

After meeting Rebekah’s family and sharing how God led him, Rebekah willingly agrees to leave her home and travel to Isaac. When Isaac meets her, they are married, and Rebekah becomes a comfort to him after the death of Sarah.

The servant sought God’s guidance before taking action instead of relying on his own understanding.

Her kindness, generosity, humility, and willingness to serve revealed the kind of heart God desired.

Before the servant even finished praying, God had already arranged every detail, proving His perfect timing and faithfulness.

Just as Abraham’s servant trusted God to lead him, we should seek God’s direction before making major life decisions.

Rebekah’s willingness to serve without expecting anything in return reminds us that our everyday actions reveal our hearts.

Believe That God Is Already Working

Even when we cannot see the outcome, God is arranging circumstances according to His perfect plan.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being a God who faithfully guides every step of my journey. Help me to seek You first in every decision instead of depending on my own understanding. Give me a heart like Rebekah’s—kind, generous, humble, and willing to serve others. Remind me that even when I cannot see what You are doing, You are already working behind the scenes for my good and Your glory. Teach me to trust Your timing, follow Your leading, and give You praise for every answered prayer.

You may not know what tomorrow holds, but God does. The same God who directed Abraham’s servant and prepared Rebekah before anyone realized His plan is still guiding His children today. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep walking in faith. God is already preparing the next step in your journey.
