Leviticus 16 God Makes a Way for Forgiveness

Leviticus 16 God Makes a Way for Forgiveness

 Summary

Leviticus 16 introduces the Day of Atonement, a special day when the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place to make atonement for the sins of the people of Israel.

God instructed Aaron to offer sacrifices for his own sins and the sins of the people. Two goats were used: one was sacrificed, and the other, called the scapegoat, was sent into the wilderness, symbolically carrying away the people’s sins.

This chapter reminds us that God is holy, sin is serious, and forgiveness comes through His mercy.

Today, because of Jesus Christ, we no longer need animal sacrifices. Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for our sins once and for all.

 Observations

1. God Takes Sin Seriously

2. God Wants Us to Be Cleansed

3. Jesus Is Our Perfect Sacrifice

 Life Application

We all make mistakes. Sometimes we carry guilt, regret, or shame from our past.

But God doesn’t want us living trapped by those feelings.

When we sincerely repent and turn to Him, we can receive His forgiveness.

Remember: Your past does not have to control your future. Through Jesus, you can experience forgiveness, peace, and a new beginning.

 Questions

  1. Is there something from my past that I need to surrender to God?
  2. Am I struggling to accept God’s forgiveness?
  3. How can I show gratitude for the sacrifice Jesus made for me?

 Memory Verse (NIV)

Leviticus 16:30

“Because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you.”

 Today’s Encouragement

You don’t have to carry yesterday’s mistakes into today.

God sees your heart, knows your struggles, and offers you grace.

No matter how far you’ve wandered, you can turn back to Him.

You are not beyond God’s forgiveness. His mercy is greater than your mistakes.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your mercy, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Forgive me for the times I’ve fallen short. Help me release the guilt and shame I’ve been carrying.

Teach me to walk in Your grace and remember that through Jesus, I have the opportunity for a fresh start.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
